What is a CDRE®?
A Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert (CDRE®) is a REALTOR who has passed a rigorous 40 hour certification program and annual continuing education program taught by attorneys, mediators, certified mortgage professionals, real estate professionals, and judicial officers.
Subjects of study include:
- Intersection of Divorce and Real Estate
- Voir Dire
- Ethics
- Bias, Neutrality and Communication
- CAPS method for resolving high conflict situations
- Divorce Finance
- Divorce Listing Process
As a crossover expert between real estate and family law, I am trained to prevent and resolve common pitfalls for divorcing clients in selling a home to minimize their impact on the sale of the home and ultimately the case:
- Agreeing on a list and sales price
- The in-spouse sabotaging showings
- Either party refusing to sign paperwork
- A restrained party accessing the house
- Deciding who will pay for repairs and how they will be completed
- One party not clearing out their personal property prior to closing
As a CDRE®, I address these challenges through a specific listing process designed specifically for couples going through divorce to prevent and mitigate conflict so that the listing keeps moving forward and everyone involved can achieve closure.
In addition to the CDRE® certification, I have received certification and training in divorce coaching, mediation, negotiation, living space psychology, distressed property sales, home staging and pricing strategy which equips me with a unique full circle approach to blend empathy with empowerment for my clients.
